September News & Food for Thought

WIN: Food for Thought & News

Why a Wellness Inspired Network?  Because, it takes a village!

Welcome to our kickoff meeting Monday evening September 29th at 7pm.
We are so looking forward to our discussion on Thyroid and hearing Mark Sivieri, MD speak!
Location: is The Amen Clinic Conference Room 10701 Parkridge Blvd #110, Reston, VA  20191

We will begin with short introductions, a couple of minutes each to include title, specialty, ideal client and any news for the month or goals for the WIN network and then move into our discussion.  I will bring some refreshments to share.

This is a business to business, (b2b) networking group for the wellness community so that we can:
  1. Give back to the wellness community and be part of something larger.
  2. Share knowledge, connections and validation for the unique work we are doing. Create cohesiveness as a holistic community.
  3. Discover local resources, providers and services that we know, like and trust.
  4. Explore affiliate and complementary strategic alliances.
A win for us personally, professionally, for our partners and clients.

We may decide to develop the opportunity to provide business to client/consumer (b2c) products and services that can be a WIN for our businesses, our partners and our clients.  The Carpe Diem Wellness App is one vehicle to share our community with clients, as is the Dao Cloud Network, presented in August. This month, I’ve had the privilege of participating in two other examples:
First an international virtual telesummit, http://vlc14.katycaroan.com/speaker-list/ this is an example of something we may want to do ourselves in the next year.

Second, Pam and I participated in a government Wellness Fair this week and I was saddened at some of the content still being disseminated as “healthy nutrition and weight loss tips”.  We talked to the director about a new emerging wellness model versus the old medical model for corporate education. There indeed is a need for a Wellness Inspired Network offering.

Third, I attended a fashion show event this week where 250 women attended.  One of the sponsors was a local hospital urging all women to have a “Bosom Buddy” to urge each other to get annual Mammography. Next, one of the models with a family history of breast cancer shared the decision to undergo a prophylactic bilateral mastectomy and received a standing ovation! It so saddens and scares me that we have come to this place where this is seen as a viable first option. This fuels my desire to grow support for healthier options and the importance of this network.  October is breast awareness month and I know that three of our members have Thermography in their offices.  Dr Sivieri in Columbia, Md,  Marianne Scippa and Dr Allan Thompson in Fairfax Virginia and Sherri Hudson in Herndon, Virginia.  I had not even heard of thermography until taking my daughter to Arizona for her cancer treatment.  This needs to change.

Sherri Hudson of Family Health Thermal Imaging & Detox has offered to hold the October meeting in her offices at Sugaroak office retreat, 427A Carlisle Drive, Herndon, VA  20170.  The October meeting will be October 28th at 7pm. Dr Su Fairchild has offered to speak in October and her areas of expertise are mainly MTHFR, nutrigenomics and functional hypothyroidism.  I would like to get a list and schedule of upcoming speakers so please contact me or share in the Facebook page if you would like to present or what topics you would like to cover.  I like the idea of a panel with Q&A for common topics. Mind body therapies, hypnosis, Lyme disease, hormonal and womens issues, rx for black mold, MTHFR, nutritional and genomic testing, non toxic skin care solutions, cancer prevention, chronic pain, detox, GI issues, nutrition and athletics, Thermography and why print media is not dead, were suggested topics.

Speaking of Breast cancer awareness month, please send me any of your events that you would like posted on the Carpe Diem Wellness App. This is a B2C tool developed for clients where I can showcase and share partner events and offerings.  I offer a daily inspirational push and would love to share your quotes, wisdom and offerings to share, connect and inspire wellness.  Here you can see Neck, Back & Beyond is having a discussion on Thermography October 9th in their office in Fairfax.  Serena Satcher, MD is also doing a series of talks utilizing The Daniel Plan in DC starting Sunday that you can see here too. I pushed this out via the app for Dr Satcher as a message to area users and it is also listed under events. Please send me your news in a jpeg format and copy my virtual assistants, Danamilesfrost@gmail.com and holly@aday.net so we can include your news and events.  This is a benefit for you that I want to offer and need your input and feedback to make it robust and a WIN for all!

If you have special monthly coupon offers we can push those too.

The Mindfulness Center is again hosting Mind Body Week DC and is looking for sponsors and participants. I can bring more info Monday for those interested.  It is another way to unite and support all of our good work and services.  This has drawn ~1,000 participants in the past and we hope 2015 topic of Chronic Pain to bring the same or more.

I did not hear back from anyone interested in a professional video recording for your website so will not be offering that on Monday evening. We will attempt to record Dr Sivieri’s talk on Monday evening for those unable to attend.

If you have not done so already, please RSVP by sending $25 to paypal ljackson@carpediemwellness.org or via check is fine too.

Here is a postcard invitation that Pam created for our group:
